Tip of the Week: Cocktail Hour Music

I've worked with a lot of couples over the years and performed at my fair share of wedding ceremonies and cocktail hours. Most couples will consider live music for their ceremony, but often forget about the cocktail hour.

The cocktail hour is usually when the newly married couple is off taking pictures with the photographer. During this time, your guests are served light hors d'evours and signature cocktails and have a chance to talk about how AMAZING the bride looked and how absolutely perfect the couple is! In recent years, it has been popular for couples to do a "First Look" before the ceremony and get the pictures out of the way before saying "I Do" so the couple can enjoy the cocktail hour with their guests.

Whether you have decided to stick with tradition or go with the "first look," you have to ask yourself. . . "What experience do I want to give my guests?"

Here are some ideas:

Plain and Simple!

Nothing fancy or over the top. Just a little background music as people are mulling around. You can have your DJ pipe in soft music throughout the cocktail hour for a nondescript setting. This is simple and classic, no muss no fuss!

A Touch of Elegance

Depending on the style of your wedding, adding a classical soloist can create just a touch of elegance, giving your guests a little entertainment as they congratulate you! The options range from a Romantic Violinist to a Jazz Pianist.

Modern and Edgy

Bring a modern and edgy sound to your guests with a Sexy Saxophone or a Charming Guitar. From the crooning melodies of Frank Sinatra to the relaxed charm of Jack Johnson, the possibilities are endless!

The WOW Factor

Give your cocktail hour a WOW factor by adding a full ensemble! Options from a Classical String Quartet to a full Jazz Band are available to fit any theme! Impress your friends and family with a musical experience they will never forget!
